Outdoor Education Programs

High School, Junior High, and Grades 5-6

Our Mission
To empower participants with skills for building healthy relationships with themselves, others, and their natural surroundings.

 Program Setting

Group of SpelunkersNestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains on nearly 500 acres of field and hillside bordering the banks of Craig Creek, Wilderness Adventure at Eagle Landing offers an incredibly diverse setting for an outdoor classroom. Because of our unique location in Craig County, we have access to thousands of acres of National Forest and wilderness areas for roaming, exploring, learning, and camping. The geology of the Appalachian Mountains also provides exciting exploration opportunities into pristine limestone caves carved out by the swiftly moving creeks, streams, and rivers that surround the area.

 Program Overview

All programs offered through Wilderness Adventure at Eagle Landing, including our summer youth program, encourage teamwork, personal reflection and appreciation for the natural world. Lessons are hands-on, interdisciplinary, and may include games, stories, discussions, or sensory explorations. The Outdoor Education program is designed to be flexible in order to offer meaningful learning experiences for varying age levels. Lessons are often combined with activities from other areas to broaden a topic or emphasize connections to related fields of interest. Because we are an adventure-based operation as well, it is possible to combine lessons with adventure activities such as canoeing, low ropes, and caving. Aside from our Outdoor Education program, Wilderness Adventure at Eagle Landing can also offer experiences in kayaking, mountain biking, rock climbing, rappelling, and high ropes. Below is a more detailed description of programs and lessons we offer so that you may choose those most appropriate for your group along with your allotted time. All topics have been designed to meet the needs of varying age levels in order to provide challenging yet exciting learning opportunities.

 Setting up a Program...

Groups as young as 10 years of age to adults may participate in our 1-4 day programs. Because of the amount of material covered and the time it takes to facilitate some of the activities, groups are encouraged to stay for at least 2 full days. Wilderness Adventure at Eagle Landing offers bunk-style lodging for up to 50 participants with meals and a cozy indoor or outdoor fire depending on the weather! Prices vary according to group size, time of year, and length of stay so please contact us for a personal quote, to schedule your group, or for more information.
