In January 1997, then-editor of Canoe and Kayak Magazine Jan Nesset, along with writer Larry Rice, flew SOARs to Venezuela to
explore and discover a remote region called the Gran Sabana, home to the highest waterfall in the world, Angel Falls. 

This trip opened the way for several eco-resorts in Venezuela to purchase SOARs for river exploration.  SOARs have been filmed
there on rivers, and shown in wide distribution on the Travel Channel and the Discovery Channels.
