"Welcome to the BIGGEST - LITTLE canoe shop in the world"

Kestrel 120 TCS

Not all touring is overnight. Like its namesake, the pretty little falcon who flies with uncanny efficiency, this attractive addition to the Current Designs product line has purpose. The Kestrel is comfortable enough to use for exercise while providing a reliable platform from which to fish, take photos, observe wildlife or simply enjoy a relaxing jaunt across favorite waters.

Short trips are enhanced by its generous cockpit for ease of entry and exit. The paddler is provided with ultimate comfort and stability, while the wide cushioned seat and adjustable back rest offer hours of relaxing kayaking. Gear has a place in the Kestrel's surprisingly large rear hatch.

This is a straight-tracking, easy-maneuvering kayak that brings the term "recreational" to a new level. In cabin country or urban centers the Kestrel has a distinct place.

Our commitment to fit and comfort carries on in our recreational touring kayaks. The Kestrel 120 TCS comes fully outfitted with reflective perimeter lines, restrained toggles, left and right fishing rod holder platforms and recessed paddle parks, rear hatch and bulkhead, and complete fore and aft deck rigging with paddle float rescue capability.

When built using Current Designs' newly developed Thermoformed Composite System (TCS™), you get great looks and lighter weight at an affordable price. For the very lightest weight, we also build the standard volume model in a fiberglass/Kevlar/graphite composite hybrid layup.

Kestrel 140 TCS

Stable enough for recreation. Efficient enough to keep up with sea kayaks. Light enough to smile.

The Kestrel 140 offers outstanding efficiency, tracking, and stability. There's also plenty of storage capacity for that camping trip you've been dreaming about. You'll spend a little more for a Kestrel 140 than for a poly touring kayak but it will paddle better, retain it's shape, and weigh allot less. The Kestrel 140 is priced much lower than those fancy Kevlar jobs, plus it's even a little more durable.

The Kestrel 140 is outfitted with a generous cockpit with comfortable padded thigh braces. The Kestrel's seat is very comfortable. Gel padding on the seat and the adjustable backrest provide all-day comfort. The Kestrel 140 features both bow and stern hatches and bulkheads for secure storage, buoyancy and safety. The recessed round bow hatch has a rigid cover for a smooth deckline to reduce spray, it really looks sharp too!

Meticulously built using Current Designs' newly developed Thermoformed Composite System (TCS™), you get great looks, lighter weight along with the durability that Current Designs is renown for.

Breeze

The Current Design Breeze is a highly versatile daytripper-style kayak. It is designed specifically for North America's millions of bird watchers, naturalists and outdoor photographers; and for all those people who simply want to "mess around in boats".

This small touring kayak can handle the roughest conditions, yet it cruises nicely at an easy touring pace. The Breeze fits a broad size range of paddlers and has been designed to be extremely user-friendly and versatile. You can do all the things that you could in a recreation kayak but with a Breeze you'll have much more potential for adventure, easier glide and better tracking. You can do all the things that you can with a sea kayak but with the Breeze you'll have lighter weight and more maneuverability, its just more compact.

At 13' 6" in length, the Breeze is the shortest of Current Designs' kayaks. With its fish-form, shallow-V hull design this small kayak has tremendous stability.

A long "easy to enter and exit" cockpit offers comfort and security with padded thigh braces. The stern bulkhead and a generously sized stern hatch make storing gear easy. The secured bow buoyancy chamber gives the boat plenty of flotation in the event of a capsize for self rescue techniques.

The Breeze is decked out like all Current Designs kayaks with full deck rigging as well as perimeter safety lines.

The Breeze is designed to compliment paddlers who spend most of their time in more protected waters but venture out in potentially choppy more open waters as well. The Breeze is a very stable, roomy, easy to maneuver, rotomolded touring kayak in a compact size. At 13' 6" by 25" the Breeze provides much of the stability and large comfortable cockpit of a recreation kayak, on a longer waterline adding greater efficiency and tracking to the design.

The Breeze is an obvious choice for entry level and intermediate paddlers offering all the amenities and handling characteristics you would want for a serious trip or a relaxing afternoon that's right around the corner. It's just enough kayak for you to keep up with your friend's "Sea Kayak" without feeling overwhelming.

Note the unique bow design, that's a flared -fish form hull. Great for riding over any type of waves rather than diving thru them and giving you a lap full of water. The shallow Vee hull offers much better glide and tracking than similar flat bottom designs. Since it's made of high grade superlinear poly it actually retains its shape rather than warping in the sun like that box store kayak that looks more like a noodle after two seasons.

Because of the broad appeal and great value, the Breeze is one of our most popular models year after year. (Shown with optional rudder)

Altura (Kevlar®)

With its extra width and length, the Altura is super-stable, but also noticeably faster and more efficient than most SOT fishing kayaks, plus the composite construction, makes it significantly lighter than any comparable rotomolded model.

The Altura has two fishing rod holders on either side of the mid-deck. The aft deck has a large open well to hold just about any bait bucket or cooler. Dry storage is available just behind the seat and in the bow. Recessed paddle parks, ample bungee bow and stern, reflective safety lines and bow, stern and side carry handles are standard.

The self-bailing cockpit has a padded seat and seat back, adjustable foot brace, and a center console (with another recess for a fishing rod holder) and of course, a secure drink holder.

Slipstream

Lively and fun to paddle!
This is a low volume British-style sea kayak and a scaled down version of the highly successful Gulfstream.

At 16' long and 22" wide, this sleek boat performs best with a paddler under 170 lbs. The nicely detailed cockpit and seating area, along with the low stern deck design, allows the paddler easy, safe movement and control when performing rolls or advanced maneuvers. It is outfitted with a retractable skeg, which when deployed gives the kayak stiffer tracking. The skeg can simply be lifted to allow quick and easy maneuverability.

This eye-catching craft is efficiently detailed with full deck rigging and recessed deck fittings, and has three self-sealing rubber hatches. In addition to the forward and rear hatches, a separate small day hatch behind the cockpit offers convenient day storage.

Squall

The smaller sister of the Storm.
The Squall is scaled down for the smaller paddler or for someone wanting a slimmer, tighter fitting craft with all of the features and details of the Storm.
The Squall carries enough gear for long trips and still performs well as a day tripper.
At just over 22" wide and 16'6" long, this quick little polyethylene kayak is zippy and fun. The Shallow "V" hull gives a lively feel, yet a strong sense of security when leaned over on its side. The 29-1/2" long cockpit allows good contact with the boat and superb control. This fine sistership to the Storm is appropriately named Squall (a small storm). Gulfstream

"Dances" with a lean of the boat and a stroke of the paddle.

World famous designer Derek Hutchinson designed the Gulfstream as a highly maneuverable kayak that appeals to those who want to make their kayak dance with a tilt of the boat and a stroke of the paddle. A retractable skeg enhances tracking on longer trips and in adverse conditions.

The Gulfstream's rubber forward and stern hatches give a completely waterproof seal. The forward hatch is 9-1/2" diameter, and the oval stern hatch is 11" x 16-1/2". These convenient hatches provide ample space for storing gear. The unique day hatch is 7-3/4" diameter and is within arm's reach of the paddler. A third bulkhead behind the day hatch makes this compartment self contained.

Stratus 18

Because fast is fun!

Designer, Dave Kruger, raised the bar for super-efficient, yet stable and user-friendly kayaks with the new Stratus.

This performance-touring model is Swede form to maximize glide, and is among the most efficient kayaks available for its width. The bow shape of the Stratus increases water-line length, yet doesn't catch weeds as an overly-plumb bow is prone to do. Rocker is kept to a minimum to further improve speed and tracking, while a low profile deck helps reduce windage.

The Stratus features a generous cockpit that allows flexibility in paddling style. Thigh braces are built-in under the deck, keeping the cockpit free of obstructions, The seat includes a back band and comes standard with a rudder uphaul/downhaul system for greater control. Bow and stern hatches and bulkheads, as well as the comprehensive deck lines that Current Designs is known for complete the package.

The Stratus is also offered in a high-volume version for those who require more depth.
