LUNA Chix of NASTC Slow Food/Fast Skiing


Welcome to the inauguration of our new series of women's ski training courses. The LUNA Chix of NASTC Slow Food/Fast Skiing course is a grand fusion of avant-garde culinary culture with the finest level of ski instruction. This course is a two-day excursion of indulgence; we are bringing you the best from both the ski world and the culinary world. During the course, you will ski in intimately sized groups with one of the LUNA Chix of NASTC trainers and receive personalized coaching to take your skiing and confidence to new heights. The LUNA Chix of NASTC team is adept at making ski improvement a fun enjoyable process. Additionally you will be treated to a sumptuous dinner prepared in the Slow Food method by owner and chef Billy McCullough of Dragonfly Cuisine, Truckee. Slow Food is an eco-gastronomic organization and movement that focuses on producing good quality food in an organic and sustainable manner. NASTC advocates Slow Food philosophy and practices as part of a healthy and active lifestyle.

Transportation Recommendations: The closest airport to Lake Tahoe is the Reno, NV airport. We recommend renting a 4WD vehicle, as the weather can be unpredictable in the Sierras. If you do not wish to rent a car, you can take a shuttle from the airport to your hotel. Please inquire with the NASTC office for carpooling opportunities.

 

Sample Daily Schedule:

7:30am - Wake up in your beautiful room at the Cedar House Sport Hotel

8:00am - Enjoy a delicious breakfast buffet

8:15am - Head to the resort

8:30am - Warm-up & Stretching(optional)

9:00am - Head out to the lift and begin your on-hill ski training.

12:30pm - Lunch

1:30pm - Back out for more on-hill training and video session

3:30pm - Cool down and wrap up

4:30pm - Video review and tech talk

6:30pm - Dinner

PACKING LIST:
Alpine skis, boots, and poles
Helmet (recommended, but not required)
Several pairs of underwear & ski socks (wool/polypropylene blend or polypro socks best)
Top and bottom long underwear (silk or polypro)
2-3 turtlenecks (polypro best)
Fleece layer, top and bottom
One or two pairs gortex or other water/wind proof material outer ski pants
Gortex or other water/wind proof material ski jacket
Spring and winter gloves (2 pair, waterproof)
Warm hat, baseball cap, headband, facemask, and neck warmer
Goggles and sunglasses w/leashes (2 pair goggles if you have them)
Boot Dryer, Cat Tracks
Evening clothes: pants, collared shirts, sweaters, shoes, sweats, slippers
Toiletries, including sunscreen & chapstick with SPF, soap & shampoo, aspirin, body lotion
All Optional: ski tuning equipment, day pack, water bottle, altimeter watch, camera, pen & notebook, alarm clock
