Sidecountry & Backcountry Skiing Backcountry skiing has never been more available. Each year more resorts are lifting their boundary lines and -under the guidance of your NASTC trainer/guide- allowing us to take you to fresh lines and exciting terrain and then back down to the chairlift. This is a great way to get powder turns in well after the mountain is "skied out," and to find new terrain if you feel you've skied everything at your home resort. But if you have no backcountry skiing experience, it's still crucial to have a guide in the "side country" at resorts and NASTC has been taking you there for years! Now more terrain than ever is open to us! And, if you still want to "earn your turns" we teach all the important backcountry skiing skills: avalanche awareness, how to use the AT equipment, route-finding, and more. Plus we guide all the great peaks in California! Join NASTC for side country and backcountry adventure skiing and improve your turns while you're at it.
