|
| A group of NASTC skiers joined Chris Fellows in Terrace, BC, Canada for a chance to learn about the heli guiding operation and heli skiing. Everyone learned a lot from the guides at Northern Escapes Heli Skiing operation. They learned about the snowpack and what the guides have to do to keep everyone safe and having fun. The food and lodging was great. Nobody went hungry!

The NASTC group started out at Shames Mountain to venture into the backcountry to learn some basic backcountry and avalanche skills. |
Here is the Northern Escapes guide explaining a graph of the snowpack. This is what the guides look at every day to figure out where it is safe to ski. |
The first day was venturing on skis and skins into the backcountry beyond Shames Mountain. |
The NASTC group gathered around the guide who is digging a snow pit to do a profile of the snow to look at the layers of the snow and check the stability of the snow. |
