Guiding Lake Tahoe whitewater rafting trips on the Truckee River and other rivers close by.
Most of our clients planning on a Truckee River whitewater rafting trip, are visiting the area for an extended period and have their accommodations planned before calling us, but the following is some information that might still be useful for your stay. It is impossible to cover all the options available and you can find an incredible amount of great information on Lake Tahoe on the Internet, but we have listed some web sites that will be a good starting point.

Truckee River Rafting - Local Merchants/Restaurants:
Granite Chief store - Our meeting location (but they do not take reservations). For last minute needs, like eye glass retainers, sunscreen, visors, footwear. Also a great resource if you return for skiing during the winter months.
Tacos Jalisco - great place for lunch (our guides favorite) - right turn out of Granite Chief.
In the Safeway Shopping center just east (left) on Donner Pass Road, try the Truckee Bagel for breakfast or lunch (great smoothies and deli), and also a Dairy Queen, Port of Subs and Round Table Pizza. On Deerfield, just south of meeting location and right off Hwy 89S heading towards Tahoe City is McDonalds, KFC, Burger King and Subway. For more upscale dining, head to downtown Truckee for places like Dragonfly & Moody's Bistro.
Truckee River & Lake Tahoe Rafting - Hotels/Motels/Bed & Breakfast:
The closest lake side lodging from Truckee is just 20 minutes away in Kings Beach. Tahoe City and Incline Village are just 30 mins away. For casinos and more bustling night life, Reno is 35-40 mins to the east and South Lake Tahoe is approx. 1.25 hrs to the south.

Tahoe National Forest - numerous camp sites along the Truckee River and at Prosser & Boca Reservoirs, some with no reservations. To reserve camp sites (which is highly recommended during the peak season) go to www.Recreation.gov and select CA and "Tahoe" as the facility. This will give you the widest range of options in the Lake Tahoe area. If you select map from the State column next to any of these listings you can get an overall view of the locations.

Truckee River & Lake Tahoe Rafting - Pet Sitting/Boarding:
We love our dogs and take them on the river when we can, but not all our clients do. Therefore, we are usually unable to accommodate pets on our commercial rafting trips. Fortunately there are some great places in the area that will care for your dog while you raft. These places are not just vet kennels and will provide fun for your dog while you are on the river.
